Toy Moose

Published by raesmom under Patterns Edit This

Now here is a cute pattern for a toy moose. He would be a fun toy to give as a Christmas gift. Even though it’s July, for crafters it’s never too early to start planning for the holidays.

This little fella would be a nice decoration for Christmas or a gift. The directions are very clear and plenty of pictures on assembly him, which is always helpful since sometimes a work in progress looks nothing like the finished product.

Kokeshi Dolls

Published by raesmom under Patterns Edit This

Now here is a pattern that I’ve been wanting to try and hopefully will get to it soon. These Kokeshi dolls and are a really cute amigurumi pattern.

This weekend I worked on a zombie amigurumi. Not quite finished with him yet but he’s really looking good. I’m learning that with dolls you really want a tight crochet. The stitches look better than my previous ones. So I’m really excited about creating more amigurumi now that I’ve developed a better technique.

Strawberries

Published by raesmom under Patterns Edit This

Food amigurumi is so much fun. Forget that plastic stuff when you’re looking for a centerpiece. Find some free patterns of food to really make your bowl of fruit stand out.

Here is a cute free pattern for strawberries. I personally am not a big fan of the fruit. Too many seeds. But these strawberries look good enough to eat even to those who may not enjoy the real thing.

Harry Potter Bookmark

Published by raesmom under Patterns Edit This

Today we are probably going to see the new Harry Potter movie. I’m still behind on reading to books as I’m up to Order of the Phoenix. Part of me would really like to read at least a few pages of this one before watching the movie while the other part just wants to see Harry Potter.

Here is an easy Harry Potter bookmark to whip up in no time. It would make a cute quick gift for any Harry Potter fan. Just choose their favorite house’s colors and you are sure to give something they will really enjoy.

Fox

Published by raesmom under Patterns Edit This

One of my favorite crochet crafts is amigurumi - especially animals. Here is one that is really cute and is something I don’t believe I have ever seen before.

It’s a fox and it’s just too cute. I may have to try this one as I’m sure the little girl would love a fox to add to her massive stuffed animal collection.

Counting Fish

Published by raesmom under Patterns Edit This

It is July and so I have already begun to think about Christmas gifts. I hope to make all gifts this year. Here is one I’m making for my great nephew.

It’s counting fish from Coats and Clark. I had actually picked up the free pattern flyer at the store, but it’s also available online. It uses cotton yarn which is a good choice since I’m sure he will try to chew on the fish.

Giant Panda

Published by raesmom under Patterns Edit This

The 3-year-old has been wanting to go to the zoo to see the pandas. Our local zoo doesn’t have pandas but some within a few hours do. So this is one trip we’ll have to make soon. She loves her stuffed animals and especially her pandas.

When I’m feeling like tackling a big crochet project, I might make her today’s free pattern which is a giant panda. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a pattern for such a large animal. I may wait on this since right now she is into really small animals. If her mood ever switches to the larger kind, then I may have to attempt this one.

Free Crochet Pattern of the Day

Published by raesmom under Patterns Edit This

I’m going to attempt to post a free crochet craft pattern each day. These will be patterns that are freely available on the Internet and have to do with crafts like toys, dolls, etc.

Today’s free pattern is a slice of birthday cake. This weekend we went to a neighbor’s birthday party. She turned the big 3 years old. She and my three-year-old always have a great time when they get together. Maybe I need to crochet a couple of slices for a tea party or play date. Play food is always fun and especially when it looks yummy even if it’s crafted from fiber.

2008 Favorites

Published by raesmom under Patterns Edit This

2008 has been a pretty good year. I rediscovered crochet and have loved creating amigurumis, scarfs, and other items for the ones that I love. Here is a list of some of my absolute favorite patterns that I have discovered in 2008.

Lion Brand’s amigurumi pig. There is no link to it because you have to register at the Lion Brand website to view patterns. Registration is free. This little pig was a huge hit at Christmas. I made one for my niece who had a favorite piggy bank that she carried everywhere.

I love how my toy animal leash turned out. I was also pretty excited to actually create a pattern. It definitely sealed the deal on being excited about crochet creations.

Another favorite is this cute amigurumi owl that I made for a Harry Potter swap. I loved working with the Lion Brand Jiffy yarn. It was so soft and so hard to sent it off. I may have to make me one.

I also enjoyed making this cute elephant. I used the Lion Brand elephant as a guide but worked some of it freestyle. My sister-in-law loved it as she is a huge Alabama Crimson Tide fan.

There are so many other projects that I’m ready to get started on. It looks like 2009 will be a bigger and better crocheting year.
