Fun Fur

Published by raesmom under General Edit This

Fun fur is one of those yarns that I absolutely have no idea how to use. I have a lot of it because of some yarn that I bought at a rummage sale. I would really like to find a use for it.

Today I received the Lion Brand catalog in the mail and it dawned on me that I could search for free fun fur patterns on their website. Why haven’t I thought of that before? Surely I can find some patterns or inspiration for the fun fur.

There are some cute ideas like a wrap, amigurumi, witch’s hat, and more. There are plenty of ideas, so I will have to give them a good look to decide if I want to make any of them. It would be great to use some of this fun fur. It’s such a specialty yarn. I might make some boas for my nieces since that would be really cute and could be made to fit their size and taste. I guess there might be more that I can do with fun fur after all.

One Skein Scarf

Published by raesmom under Apparel Edit This

I had an idea to make one skein scarves for Christmas presents. But I ran into a problem. I had bought a few Bernat skeins on sale and then realized that one skein wasn’t enough. The scarf picture above is the one I made and found out that it was too short to use as a scarf.

I didn’t have the heart to frog it just yet, so I set it aside. Then a cold snap came through and we went looking for something to wrap my daughter in. I stumbled upon the scarf and thought she might wear it. She did and love it. While it might not be a good size for an older child or adult, for a toddler it works out perfectly.

She has worn it a few times and it really helps to keep the wind out of her face. Besides she really seems to enjoy when I make something just for her. So to make her smile makes me happy. And I can do it by crocheting. What a great deal.

So even though the one skein scarf idea didn’t quite pan out for Christmas gifts, it definitely was a good idea.

New Year, New Projects

Published by raesmom under General Edit This

How did you celebrate New Year’s Day? I celebrated by starting a new crochet project. What a great way to get the year off on the right foot.

It’s going to be an amigurumi Robot Chicken from Adult Swim. My daughter thinks he’s so cute and would like to pet him, so I thought this might be a good challenge for me. The chicken part will be easy enough. It will be the robotic part that will be the challenge.

I need to find some good pics of it to use as a guide. This is one of those projects that I want to get done pretty fast as I have my first crochet online class beginning next week. Besides the little girl is already excited about the chicken even though it doesn’t look like much right now.

So I have a few more days to work on it. I’m not going to get in a rush because I want it to look authenticate and well sewn together because I’m sure it will be played with a lot.
