Christmas Tree Skirt

916317_30776817.jpgI was hoping to hold off on putting a Christmas tree up this year but find I’m wanting to have it up as soon as possible. I have never had a tree skirt but would really like to make one for Christmas this year. There is a pattern in Crochet World for one that is really cute but might just try free forming one.

When I’m looking for inspiration, I search Google images for ideas. It’s a great way to get several ideas at a glance. It’s also a faster method to find something close to what you have in mind for a crochet project. This year I will probably keep it pretty basic since I need to whip it up in a hurry. Next year I will try to do one with more style.

Here are a few free Christmas tree skirt patterns that look fun for either this year or next -

Hi - Can you help me with the Caron Crochet Christmas Tree Skirt. I started this project without reading it through. I got to Row 7, and am stumped: Row 6 ends with 99 sts. Row 7 instructs: 5 dc, 2 dc in next st, repeat across, end 4 dc, turn - 115. That would mean I am adding 6 dc to each st. Doing that I would end up with a whole lot more than 115 sts at end of row.

Do you know what it is that I’m supposed to be doing REALLY? Rows 9, 11, & 13 create a similar problem.

    Thank you for your help.

Reading patterns can be quite the challenge. I do love it when the ending stitches are listed. I’m reading it as do a dc in the next five stitches and then in the sixth stitch, do 2 dc. This would add 16 rows to the project giving it 115.
