Amigurumi Eyes
Chances are if you look at five amigurumi animals or people, each pattern could use different eyes. The right eyes can really dress up a crocheted doll. There are a few options when it comes to adding eyes to your amigurumi creation.
Googly eyes. These eyes have been around for quite a while. They come in various sizes and shapes. It’s probably best to use the sew on kind instead of the glue on ones.
Safety eyes. Go to your local craft store to find these eyes that feature various styles like cat eyes or general animal eyes. They come in several colors and can really bring the ‘wow’ factor to any amigurumi project.
Buttons. Small buttons can also be used for eyes. Finding the right button might take some time since you probably have an idea of what you want the eyes to look like for your project. But there are plenty of button styles and finding the right one can be accomplished.
Felt. Felt is a wonderful crafting accessory as it is cheap and very versatile. Just cut out the felt the size you need for your eyes and then sew it to your amigurumi. Layer felt colors to get different color eyes and add more flair to the project.
French knot. A simple, yet cute way to add eyes is by using a french knot. It will create a round knot that can be used for an eye.
There are probably other methods to adding eyes to amigurumi but these are the ones that I have either tried or plan to use in the future. How do you add eyes? Tell us by leaving a comment.
